| Barnes & Noble (BKS) shares surged 13% after billionaire investor Ron Burkle suggested that he wants to own more than a third of the book retailer and criticized the poison pill set up by the company that prohibited his Yucaipa investment funds or other outside investors from owning more than a 20% stake of the company. Burkle said late Monday that Yucaipa has bought 19% of Barnes & Noble because he said the stock is ''undervalued.''
